BITS Pilani has three campuses: Pilani(estd. 1964), Goa(estd.2004), Hyderabad(estd.2008). All three campuses have the same academics. That means they use the same textbooks, same syllabus and so on.All the campuses of BITS have the same alumni association called BITSAA. Companies are invited as a whole for placements. Even when they hire professors they conduct the interview as a whole and then it’s the professor’s choice where he/she wants to teach.
So, what is the actual difference between the campuses then?
Let us discuss different aspects:
- Location: Pilani as a place is very far away from the normal-urban life and there is absolutely nothing outside the campus. Goa is a place full of beaches, restaurants. Hyderabad is a metro-city. BITS Hyderabad is located quite far away from the city and is located on the outskirts. But you shouldn’t join a college based on what is outside but join looking at what is inside!
- Weather: Pilani is in Rajasthan so its weather is extreme! It is very hot touching 45 degrees and also dead cold becoming 0 degrees on other days. Goa has a humid and pleasant weather being near to the sea. Hyderabad has a normal weather, it may be slightly hot in the summer, but is manageable.
- Peer Group: There is not much debate here. The average BITSAT score of Pilani>Goa>Hyderabad Campus. But I would tell you that this is just a measure not to judge someone based on a 3 hour exam. In many cases we have seen people from Tier-3 college doing better than the people from Tier-1/2 college. But the takeaway is all three campuses will have enthusiastic and smart people, Pilani being slightly better than Goa and so on.
