Not hard at all! Trust me!
Before coming directly to your answer, I would like to share my graph of score in DU.
In my first sem, I didn’t attend much of the classes, didn’t care much about internal tests and assignments. Instead, I was busy exploring campus, indulging in college debating society, and all that.
When the exam time came, I studied just 2 days before each of my paper. I scored 6.9 sgpa.
I was ofcourse not happy with the marks because I was one of the school toppers. My mom just asked me to focus.
(These marks won’t fetch you anything but satisfaction. Admissions to pg courses is no more on merit but entirely on entrances)
I thought I have to score good. I can not digest the fact that I am not amongst the toppers anymore. (Ego hai bhai ka!)
I tried studying in next sem. But then also, I didn’t know much about books, marking schemes, importance of previous year ques papers, etc. Those of my friends who were staying in hostels, knew all these things and shortcuts. Anyway, this sem my sgpa increased to 7.9. I was happy. Was not at the top, though. I was not satisfied.
By second year (3rd sem), I started gaining info (Right, I was late.. but told u, was careless before. Plus lack of sources).
In 3rd sem, I got 8.2 sgpa. I probably came third or fourth in my class. In 4th sem, I got 8.5 and came second.
In 5th sem, I got 8.7 and I topped this time. But I was still not happy. Know why? The class topper is consistent in her marks from very 1st sem. It has been around 7.9 to 8.7 till now. Her avg is definitely going to be highest, even if I score 9.5 in coming 6th sem. Anyway, I am still working hard, because I am loving the heat of competition.
Now coming to your question, you must be wondering by now that I still haven’t scored above 9 . Neither the class topper ever crossed 8.7 sgpa
Well we were the first batch to face the newly introduced CBCS system in DU. But our junior batches are scoring up to 9.8 (proud of u guys)
So how do u do it?
First of all, attend all the classes.
Each subject carries 150 marks (75 theory exam+25 internal tests ,assignments and theory class attendence+50 marks practical examination)
Your subject teacher directly and indirectly controls your 75 marks of internals and practical. Rest 75 are in your hand by performing in theory exams. To score good, make sure you attend classes, be in good notes of your teacher, give class tests and assignments good on time, complete practical files on time and attend each practical class. Do not let go of these 75 marks.
Other 75 marks i.e., from theory exam, for that, solve maximum of previous year questions as they repeat A LOT! Follow the topics mentioned in your syllabus religiously. Study with plan. Refer to good books as mentioned below the syllabus. You can get previous year questions on internet as well as “ten year’s” are available for many courses. All this plan is to score good.. but do not mug up things, learn your subject well, because at the end your knowledge will matter, not your marks.
