As I have studied in the college, it will be right to answer this question. Now I heard it is combined with DBE but placements are two sperate things
Overview: CFA affiliated college where you can get scholarship for pursuing CFA degree and with detailed course structure in finance, MBA in DFS(MFC) is definitely a sort after degree in prestigious DU. If you’re interested in finance and didn’t convert top league colleges, it is definitely worth a go.
Fees: The most positive feature. A great ROI, in which most colleges lack this aspect. Heavily subsidized education where you pay mere 25k and have your MBA, whereas IIMs can cost you anywhere from 13–24 lakhs (even in FMS you need to spend 4–6 lakhs). It is like starting your career with a home/car loan but without home/car.
Curriculum: Here DFS is not in par with IIMs as its curriculum is not competitive comparatively. DFS has semester pattern unlike trimester patter in IIMs (as it is a department under an University). In IIM, you can be busy all through the day and deal with case studies almost every lecture and you have marks for class participation too.
In DFS, though finance core subjects are taught very extensively and it is similar in lines with University type of pedagogy and haven’t updated to be competitive.
In IIMs, there is constant urge and heavy competitiveness will make you to participate in case study competitions but that competitiveness is lagging in DFS.
Faculty: Best in business. Every one are experienced and also have previous industry exposure. Though it is of small team, all have long standing career in teaching. I heard even in IIM K,I now the faculty standards have been diluted. New IIMs have mixture of old and new faculties but good one needs to be allotted to you in every trimester and for all subjects. There were bad review about some profs. from my friends in baby IIMs. So, DFS has an clear edge even over new IIMs.
Placement: What you are eager to know. Placement is in par with new IIMs but you cannot expect to be in lines with BLACKI league of colleges where you may get good management roles but the problem with 2nd tier of colleges is you may get subordinate roles to the people from BLACKI league. Remember, good entry is only a head start in job. After couple of years, its only the experience & achievements which speaks.
ALUMNI: This is another weak point where there were merely 30 people per batch for past 30 years whereas IIMs have 400 per batch. So it is like finding a gem in corporate world to know a guy who studied in MFC(DFS).
