The best thing about Delhi University, according to me, among other things, is the type of people you meet here.
Coming from a small town I can tell you that there is a lot of variety found here. I am writing this after completing 5–6 months in DU.
Let me tell you about my friends and their respective talents. One of my friends A(say) is a very sarcastic guy , He cracks sarcastic jokes and makes everyone laugh. He is also a great artist and a dancer. He has listened to almost all the songs that have been sung and he remembers their lyrics as well. Another person R, he is a very disciplined guy, he does everything according to time. He wakes up at 7 exactly everyday and is always punctual. His Watch is like an angry Girlfriend for him who forces him to do anything. He cannot live without a watch.
Another of my friends H, is a very curious guy. He always studies Why and never What. His thinking level is beyond me, I always try to think like him but I am hopeless. He believes in quality of study. On the opposite I have a friend who is all about hard work and quantity of study, he does not want to think and know why is this thing happening. He tries to compensate quality by quantity and practice.
One of my hostel mate, A is an athlete. He is a national level badminton player. He us a gym-freak, he gives us all fitness goals. The amount of physical hardwork he does and the strength he possesses is surreal. He is also diet conscious, he never eats unhygienic fast food.
Another of my hostel mates, is a very politicious guy. He is so much into politics, that he remembers the names of every major politician and the events that have happened in the past years ago. He possesses great debating skills.
One of my college friend is good at people. People want to be around him all the time as he keeps everyone happy. His jokes and singing skills make girls melt on him.
Another one of my friends is an introvert. A Career-focused, helping, and caring girl who is into reading novels, newspapers, quora answers. Her english vocabulary is inspiring as well.
After telling about a lot of people, though there remain a lot more, I want to convey about the versatility of people you find here in Delhi University. You can learn from everyone. Everyone is good at something, the thing that they have been doing since their childhood and you are not necessarily good at it. When I talked to these people with different habits for the first 1-2 months I felt so insulting as I did not had the knowledge of the topics they referred to. These insults gave me a strong reason to start improving on myself. People and their habits inspire me the most. These people bring with them their customs and traditions, so u get to experience the cultures of different places at one place. Come to DU and relish these things and make your 3 years full of experience and learning. :-). Another thing I would like to emphasize on is that you must try to be with people who you think are better than you on a particular thing. Even if you have to rub your nose on their feet, just stay with them as you are the average of the five persons you stay with. If you be with such people you will get better at those things which they are doing better than you. There is nothing wrong in imitation initially. If you want to be among the top 1-2% brilliant people of the world, you have to step out of your comfort zone and try to be with them so that you will improve in every aspect.
