What one has to do to get a good placement?

I would suggest practice C programming, and C++ or JAVA, any one of these 2 object oriented language.
Be well prepared with microcontroller, signals and systems and DSP.
ECE students are eligible for most of the CSE companies so knowing to program is must.
U need to know basic C programming, data structure and sorting algorithms.
If u study this properly u can crack any personal interview. In addition u need to practice general aptitude, it bring the first round.
Suggestions: do some classes to learn C/JAVA during semester breaks it will help u a lot.
