Excellent!
Am a product of XIME.
Excellent Institution for Education and if you utilize your two years, it will give you dividends all your life.
But here’s the catch –
Do you go for an MBA for the learning’s or the Earnings?
Of course with a 10 Lakh rupee course fee, you aren’t going out there for just good education and this is where the major disconnect begins.
College management is busy turning the school into a holy place – disciplined, state of the art, research hub. In its bid to do so – it rubs the Industry in the wrong way.
Placement in a college like XIME should be in the upwards of 12 Lakhs – but the truth is that it gives a mere 6.35 LPA average salary (Note – I said Average not median – which means most students are below is this mark and not above)
Getting a worthwhile placement from XIME is a challenge and that is largely due to the “I don’t care about your placement attitude” of the college management.
While the college smartly safeguards its “X – Factor” – although it hardly has any links to the original XLRI. It doesn’t do anything for the students or the alumni, most of its alumni are in top positions in top companies both India and abroad (I’m part of that list now) but then it is the students merit and the institution’s education which holds them in good stead. The college has no role to play in giving you that edge.
Here is a Point of View that I possess (and you can beg to differ)
There are colleges which teaches you MBA for a mere 1.6 Lakhs. What is the difference between that and a top tier college – the difference should be 3 fold –
a. Education Imparted
b. Industry Exposure
c. Placement Assistance
XIME heavily lacks in the below 2 points.
Industry exposure is limited and tie ups are with outdated institutions. If students try to form new tie ups – the college management turns a cold shoulder towards them.
In terms of placement – It does even poor – a small list of companies which keeps coming back to campus hire students as management trainee (the smart way of calling them cheap labor). XIME forcefully puts itself in the same bucket as IMT Nagpur and BIMTech whereas it should be the leagues of the top 20 Institutions in India.
While other colleges beg around for good companies to come with good profiles, XIME turns a cold shoulder towards great companies and ask them to toe a line which suits their disciplinarian culture.
XIME has the ability to blow other institutions out of their league but seldom it utilizes its power to do so.
Short Answer: Great Institution ruined by its snobbish management (Choose only if you have something worse to deal with)
