What kind of jobs are you looking for?
- Teaching: This is by far the easiest path to take. You can join the respective IITs/ NITs as teaching staff and can be promoted to the rank of a professor if you complete your PhD. If the IITs/ NITs wont take you there are several private deemed universities who will. And if they don’t there are several private colleges too. In India, an engineering college is a stone’s throw away from wherever you are standing. Any tier3/ tier4 college would be lucky to have an M.Tech from IIT/ NIT.
- Automotive: This needs some prior planning. Most (not all) Indian automotive companies campus hire M.Tech from IITs/ NITs to join their R&D divisions. Companies like GM, Renault-Nissan, MBRDI have their tech centers in India where M.Tech is preferred.
- Tech PSU: Companies like DRDO, HAL, ISRO prefer M.Tech candidates. There are also entrance exams and interviews for all these companies. Your joining grades will be commensurate with your degree. B.Tech candidates who join these companies join 1 grade lower than you.
