What is the exam pattern of the NEET PG?

The National Board of Examinations has made certain changes in the NEET PG Exam Pattern which are –

  • The total number of MCQs have been reduced from 300 to 200 questions.
  • Hence, the total number of marks is now 800 instead of 1200.

Here is the detailed information regarding the exam pattern of the NEET PG

  • The exam is conducted online i.e Computer Based Test.
  • It is a single session examination.
  • The question paper is available in English language only.
  • Total number of questions – 200 MCQs
  • Total marks alloted – 800 marks.
  • The total time duration of the test is 3 hours and 30 minutes.

As per the experts, majority of the questions will be clinical-based.

Marking Scheme of NEET PG

  • For each correct answer, 4 marks will be awarded.
  • However, for incorrect response -1 will be deducted.

There shall be 25% negative marking for the incorrect answers. However, no marks will be deducted for unattempted questions.

The candidates have to prepare for subjects, they have studied during MBBS. It includes clinical, pre-clinical, and para-clinical subjects. The sections from which the questions are asked are as follows-

Section-A (Pre-Clinical)

  • Biochemistry
  • Anatomy
  • Physiology

Section-B (Para-Clinical)

  • Microbiology
  • Pharmacology
  • Pathology
  • Social and preventive medicine
  • Forensic Medicine

Section Part C – Clinical

  • General Medicine including Dermatology & Venereology & Psychiatry
  • ENT
  • Obstetrics and Gynaecology
  • General Surgery including Orthopedics, Anaesthesia & Radiodiagnosis
  • Paediatrics
  • Ophthalmology
