While travelling to bangalore for my PS, I got into a train even when my waiting list was 32. Sat in a seat which would be filled in Nagpur, hoping to bribe the TT and travel sitting at the pantry. When the TT came, he asked me to get down in the next station. I pleaded him, and took him aside he said he could arrange a berth but it would cost me 1500 bucks. I looked at him helplessly, and turned back to look into my bag. *BOOM* BITS Pilani on the back.
TT: “BITS Pilani mein padtey ho? Kaunsa branch?”
Me: “Ji, computer science. Internship mila hain microsoft mein (PS was in RedPine 😀 ) isiliye Bangalore jaa raha hoon. Kal tak I have to report or else I will lose the opportunity.
TT: “Accha, *looks at his pad* B3 67 mein jaakey beit jao. Raat tak berth arrange karunga.”
*In the mean time I pulled out the money*
“Arey beta koi nahin. Jaakey tum beit jao. Agar kuch zaroorat padey toh pooch lena, I will be in A2”
He confirmed a berth for me within the next 2 hrs..!!! He sat with me after that and discussed his plans for his son who wrote his 10th exams.
