What is round 1 and round 2 counselling in comedk?

Well, you got a good rank and you appeared for the Counselling in COMEDK.

You got a college and branch combination according to your rank preference, and so does many others. But suppose, some of the candidates, who have a better rank than you do, had applied for some other colleges like NIT(s) or other regional colleges and they got admission there in a good branch. If they want, they can withdraw from COMEDK Counselling on or before a given deadline, and taking admission in the other college of their choice. But in doing so, the leave a vacant place which they opted for in COMEDK first round of counselling, which by far now, we were calling COMEDK counselling.

So what COMEDK does is, after that fixed deadline, the call candidates for the second round of Counselling and shows them all the vacant places. So, in the Second round of Counselling, you may get some better colleges, or may be some better branch of your choice.

So, my advice here would be to attend first round of counselling but not taking admission in the college you get if that’s not what your most preferred combination is. Wait for the second round and you may get a better preferred college and branch combination. Certainly, you can’t expect a miracle in second round of counselling but there are quite a few cases of withdrawals so there is a good chance of upgrading your choice. Then take admission before the deadline.
