I dont know why people keep on asking average package. Average package doesnt indicate anything , it depends on how you do on campus. If you ask whether chances of you getting placed in a good company is 100% , then the answer is NO, for any branch. As for chemical, the core companies which come are limited to 4-5 max. per sem. Schlumberger, shell, UOP, Exxon, Cairn, RIL .. thats about it. So if you donot do well on campus, you might have to take a non core job. You might still get a decent pay of 6-7LPA or even more , but what matters is your interest in the job/branch and not pay. And if you specifically want average , it will be around 8LPA or even a little more. But let me give you and example: Schlum gives 27LPA . So suppose one person gets in Schlum , and other 4 persons get only 5LPA jobs , the average works out to be (27+4×5)/5=9.4LPA. Thats how helpful average is in determining actual scenario. If you do well, youll definitely get a good placement. If you dont , you wont. Simple as that.
