Before I venture to answer your query it is pertinent to mention that counselling is built upon the premise that the individual himself/herself is the best person who can help themselves seek answers to their questions if they are assisted in the process by a trained counsellor – who should know how to ask the right questions and gradually build trust with the counselee. The foundation of trust built can pave the way for the counselee to open up and lay out each aspect of his/her life so that the counsellor can help him identify that the answer to all his queries lies within himself/herself.
Steps of a General Counselling Session are:
- Building up a relationship of trust with the counselee
- Mutual agreement of Terms & Conditions of Service between the counsellor and counselee (process, privacy, commercials etc.)
- Profile Preparation
- Enlisting of Issues faced by the Counselee
- Detailed analysis of each issue by the Counsellor and deciding whether the issue at hand is comprehensible to be resolved with further engagement with the counselee or to go in for Psychometric tools for a better psychological analysis of the counselee.
