What are some helpful tips for students starting their first year at Manipal University?

Come prepared with enough rain gear.
If you are bringing a two wheeler, be aware that driving is aggressive here. Hence be careful when you drive
Udupi district, under which Manipal comes has almost 100% literacy. Hence people are polite and expect to be treated with respect.
There is no bargaining in Manipal — auto rickshaws, fruits — all at fixed rates.
Local people are generally nice till you get into any conflict with them. They can really be nasty ( like any Indian public) when there is any problem.
