The student crowd

  • 0

The crowd at Manipal University Jaipur is extremely diverse, with people coming in from all over the country and from a variety of backgrounds (Army, rich kid, rich non brat, self funded, etc). Just about every state is well represented here, with the rare exception of Haryana, which is overrepresented (:)).

You’ll find the common factions that you’ll expect in a college crowd, from the woman charmer to the sportsperson to the army brat to the gamer to just about everyone else. I’ve met people with a very diverse array of Interests, from my friend who has devoted years of his life to studying Psychology to another who’s very avidly interested in the state of the world (Politics, etc). I’ve had debates lasting till 5AM with a lot of people on a dizzying array of topics, and I feel like your conversation quotient will absolutely be fulfilled.

There are people who are very passionate about dance, about reading, about debate, about their YouTube Channels, and of course, people who code.

I wouldn’t say that the people who love Computer Science are a huge percentage of the population, but you’ll certainly find the coding culture at MUJ to be very vibrant, provided that you’re with the right people. People here are exploring Machine Learning, Internet of Things, Data Science, Web Development, Robotics, you name it. There are also the niche cool fields like a few who develop Unity games, C++ metaprogrammers, script kiddies and more.

My friend Kshitij Gupta operates one of the most significant Android ROMs for the OnePlus One, a project is being used by thousands around the world. Check it out here.
