There will be two categories of students taking admissions to colleges through COMEDK.
- Students who reside in the area where the college is located.
- Students who come from other places and choose to stay in the hostel(if available) or live as paying guests.
COMEDK allots seats to students to colleges in Karnataka for whom the tuition fees itself costs around 1.71L unlike K-CET through which the tuition fees is a meagre ~30K.
If you happen to be someone who doesn’t live in Bangalore or some other place in Karnataka, the total fees for the academic year will come to around 2.7L if you opt for even the cheapest of hostels or PG available. Having said that, the expenses for your college would turn out to be a whopping 10.8L which is just too much if you belong to a middle class family or less household income family like me and the only option you have is to let go off your COMEDK seat and look for other options.
I decided to opt for IT at KJSCE which happens to be one of the best private college in Mumbai and by doing so I could save my parents money as well as pursue a career in a subject which I like which is very important. Please make a wise decision and explore every option available and enjoy your four years of Engineering. Best of luck!!!!!
