To answer in short, yes. Weekends are holidays at SRM Kattankulathur. Weekends are a good relief from the weeks. Gives you a chance to unwind and probably catch up with social and even academic commitments that have been amassed during the week.
The semester however, was different. Saturday was kept working full day because the number of days had gone down drastically owing to the floods in Chennai during November-December, 2015. So, you must also be ready for such an event.
