Better is, I don’t know, a very harsh term? I’ll list you some pros of RVCE. I was getting Computer Science and Engineering in VIT Vellore and so were a few of my friends. So I’ll just tell you what prompted me to choose RV instead.
- The smaller batch sizes. In VIT, the CASE batch size was 1k, so were the ones for IT and CSE with Bioinformatics. It’s very difficult to be noticed by companies when you’re competing against so many people.
- The IT culture: Bangalore is the IT hub of the nation. Name any company off the top of your head and you’ll find their office here. Google, Facebook, Twitter, Goldman Sachs, McKinsey, anything. There’s hackathons in the city twice a week, and there’s campus interactions by companies, talks, visits, everything you can think of. For a CSE guy atleast, Bangalore is the city to be.
- Reputation in Bangalore: RVCE is unanimously considered the best engineering college in Bangalore. So we get the perk of being noticed first. Since there are hundreds of companies here, wouldn’t they prefer to choose their employers from Bangalore rather than travel to Vellore for the same level of candidates? We have collaborations with IISc and regularly get lectures from the best researchers you can find in the field.
