Not at all checking is very fair and step-wise marking is followed. Teachers are given answer key according to which they give marks in each question.. Here is one page of an answer key from maths sample paper you might get a fair idea about how is the checking.
Basically it will not be as worst as school teacher’s checking in 9th and 10th which you sure have suffered.
