: Is Delhi University overrated ?

  • 0

I’ll be frank as possible without bias while answering this question. After having been in Delhi for a while I’ll definitely not vouch for Delhi University as something which justifies its immense hype outside as a whole, given some exceptions.

A large number of the answers to this question comment how DU is overrated, yes it is overrated if you don’t get into those 2 or maximum 3 reputed colleges I can distinctly name.

The university has 40+ colleges under it. This may sound harsh but the truth is if you don’t get into SRCC, Stephen’s, Hindu/LSR, you will soon realise that DU is a hype.

I can still vouch for DU given the standards of colleges like Stephen’s, where it is exasperatingly difficult to get a seat, and the college on its part maintains a needed distance from the DU culture. May it be placements or prospects for going abroad or the most unique college experience you can expect, Stephen’s still stands out from any other college in India.

This answer may come as distinctly offensive to a good number of people who themselves know other colleges are not worth the time, but still, keep defending. I’ll any day vouch for this fact, that the day Stephen’s and Hindu segregates from DU ( as Stephen’s plans to do so) half of the DU hype will be drained.
