I guess you are a little late. But still its never too late. Try clearing the backlogs in the next fall sem( take maybe 2 courses there) and you can take one in weekend semester(If VIT decides to keep one). If you had though a little earlier you could have cleared it in your summer semester. This would have ensured that the backlogs have no effects on your placements which usually starts from fall semester (July mid). This is the best you can do now I guess. All the best for your journey.
