I think it might be possible but you’d be cutting it really close.
In MIT Manipal, sometimes a few branches don’t have a last rank cutoff. Those are branches which are less sought after. Last year(2019-20), chemical didn’t have a last rank cutoff even after all the rounds.
On the contrary, in 2018-19, the last rank cutoff for chemical engineering was around 19k.
To be honest it’s really hard to tell where the last rank cutoff will be. The 2019-20 year saw a huge deviation from the usual rank cutoffs but this year a lot of families throughout India are in a slightly more dire monetary situation due to Covid-19, which means they might find it hard to pay the 3.15 lakh(for 1st year) and the 3.3 to 4.1 lakh fee(for other 2-3 years, fee changes depending on branch) . This might mostly lead to the same situation as in 2019-20.
