How much does a radiologist earn on average in India?

  • 0

It depends on where you work and what type of work you do.

A radiologist can work in the following places. As a consultant in private hospital or private medical college, consultant in government medical college hospital either state or central, consultant in private scan centers or start their own scan center.

More than 95% radiologists do only diagnostic studies, like USG, CT and MRI. Very few do intervention.

How much they earn, mainly depend on where they work.

  1. If they work in government hospital, they have only fixed pay. In AIIMS, faculty are paid 1 to 2 lakhs per month, depending on their post and experience, with 1 lakh as minimum.
  2. In Government state medical colleges, the pay will be lesser compared to central institutes.
  3. In private medical colleges, they pay somewhat more. In Tamil Nadu and Pondicherry, some universities pay 1.5 lakhs per month. They pay some additional money based on how much they are reporting. It varies between places, and not a constant thing.
  4. In private centers, there is 2 types of pay. Either monthly pay, or pay based on number of cases they do. For example, either 2 lakhs per month or 300 per USG, 400 per CT, 700 per MRI. I am not sure of the exact amount as I have no experience there. I worked as a replacement in one private hospital for 20 days, and got 2.2lakhs (pay was on case basis, by doing USG and reporting CT)
