1.X2.Infrastructure – The College has a capacity to accommodate 120 students per batch. The main block has 4 classrooms, a seminar hall,an auditorium, a gym and a playroom for playing indoor games like table tennis, carrom and chess. The class rooms and Library in the main block are Wi-Fi enabled with high speed internet access. There are separate hostels for both boys and girls. Each room is twin sharing with attached bathrooms. There is one common room in each hostel equipped with TV sets for entertainment purpose.
3.Curriculum and pedagogy – Being a PGDM course, the first year subjects are same for all the students who are exposed to various disciplines that include Marketing, Operations, Finance and Human resources. In the second year students are required to choose 10 electives from the four disciplines and a minimum of 5 electives from a discipline are to be chosen to qualify as a specialization. Students also have the option of going for the international tour and winter internship abroad. The Pedagogy is predominantly through powerpoint presentation (80%) and case studies (20%).
4.Faculty – The College has faculty with both academic and industrial experience. HR and marketing departments have the best faculties.
5.Discipline and Dress code – 100 % attendance is mandatory in XIME Chennai. On Mondays, gentlemen are expected to be in blazers and women are expected to wear Sarees. On the other days of the week both the genders are expected to come in formals to the class.
6.Crowd and Campus Life – Students from 20 different states study at XIME Chennai. Around 60% of the students are freshers and the remaining 40% students are experienced. Most of the students studying at XIME Chennai are engineers. The Food provided by the mess caters to the tastes of both the North and south Indian students. There are only 2 good eat outs outside the campus namely Lava cakes and Café coffee day since the college is situated in the industrial hub.
7.Admission eligibility – Candidates must have a Bachelor’s Degree, or be appearing for their final exams in this academic year. You need a good or better than average score in any Management Entrance Test. It helps to have a consistent academic record from your 10th Standard, plus achievements in extra-curricular activities.
Bachelor’s Degree
1.Candidates applying for the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) are required to have a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate of 50% marks for all subjects taken together (45% for SC/ST candidates).
2.Candidates who are appearing for their final year examination and are awaiting their results may also apply.
3.They should have maintained an average of 50% marks in the degree course until then. They should be completing all their degree examinations before June 09, 2019. Such candidates are required to produce proof of passing the degree examination with the minimum required marks of 50%, latest by September 10, 2019.
4.Applicants who have un-cleared backlog papers in graduation, are not eligible to apply.
Entrance Test
An entrance test score of 75 percentile and above in any of the following Entrance Tests (75% in GMAT)
1.XAT – 2019
2.CAT – 2018
3.CMAT – 2019
4.MAT – May 2018, September 2018, December 2018 & February 2019
5.ATMA – May 2018, June 2018, July 2018, August 2018 & February 2019
6.GMAT – 2017,2018 and 2019
Only such tests in 2018-19 where results are declared latest by 23rd February 2019 will be considered.
While it is stipulated to get a minimum percentile in the entrance tests listed above, candidates who have lower than the above acceptable scores in the Management Entrance Tests, might also be considered based on their academic record, extra-curricular activities, and diversity.
Selection Criteria
1.Score for academic performance in X Std., XII Std., Under Graduate Degree/ Post Graduate Degree – 20%
2.Score in the Common Admission Test (CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT) – 35%.
3.Group discussion/interview – 35%
4.Weightage for participation in Sports, Extra-Curricular activities, Academic diversity and Gender diversity – 10%
8.Placements- The College has organized around 4 industrial visits for my batch over the past 2 years. Around 15 students from my batch were involved in doing live projects for various companies like Apollo Tyres Ltd, OBO Bettermann private Limited, Lennox International etc. which provided a first-hand corporate experience for our students. As far as the summer internships are concerned all the students of my batch got an opportunity to intern in top companies like Airtel,Yamaha Motors,IndusInd bank,Apollo Tyres Ltd,Lennox International ,OBO Bettermann private limited etc. As far as the final placement is concerned,4 students from my batch got their preplacement offers from the companies where they did their internship. Other students have been getting placed through the common placement process happening in XIME Bangalore where Chennai,kochi and Bangalore students compete for placement.
Currently out of the 62 students from my batch, 45 have got placed with an average salary of 6.48 lakh ctc and median salary of 6.5 lakh ctc. Some of the companies who have given their offers for XIME Chennai students include Hexaware, Hewlett Packard, Ceat Tyres Ltd ,TVS motors Ltd, Federal bank, ICICI Prudential,ICICI Prudential AMC,Iprimed Education Solutions, Sabre Corporation, Bizongo, Mindtree, Sonata Software, Mphasis, Tech Mahindra etc.
