Quite pleased to see so many SRMites on Quora …
Back to your question, life in SRM main campus should be as exciting as it was back in 2011. The year I left the campus..
Few things you should be ready for beforehand ..
1) Humidity:- you mentioned temperature , but more than heat waves humidity would sulk you down. I remember walking from workshop building in Hi-tech campus to our G-Block hostel and the dress used to get so wet of sweat that we could not think of anything else other than getting to normal shorts and T-shirt after reaching hostel.
2) People:- Being a north Indian, one always has certain perception as how Tamil Nadu people would be and that campus should not be full of geeky ones. Rest assured, SRM is one of the best places to make friends from all parts of India. It’s having total cosmopolitan culture. Don’t possess preconceived notion about tamils or andhraites or people from other states. Just talk to them mix in their culture and trust me it would be fun
3) Staircase & Ques :- Being in SRM you should be prepared to climb lots of stairs and stand in long ques. I do not mean that it does not have lifts. What I meant was, lift would be irrelevant considering the huge population SRM has. As it would mostly be preoccupied either by faculty or by girls
( I am not generalizing) So either you may wait or just climb stairs and it would be great for fitness too :p
4) Food:- Here , we had north Indian and South Indian separate mess. Do not expect great things from the mess food but it would not be that bad except tuesday nights and sunday …
Considering the food quality in other colleges , SRM is way better than those ones. Only thing would be boring menu. Wednesdays would have biryani and sometimes in snacks pav Bhaj
How is life at SRM University main campus (Kattankulathur)?
