How is life at Delhi University?

If you are into studies, and belong to science stream then I suggest you to look for other options. It’s a false image that DU presents.

You wont get any good education, just a degree (which I think is worthless). It’s a nuisance all round of the year, first comes the time of Elections which I think is the worst experience you will have in any education institute. Then comes semester exams whose quality is not upto the par, it’s so worse that people actually get passed by studying 10year books just 1–2 days before the exams. Then the time of Fest which is a headache if you are not a party animal or in other words an idiot. In between there will be strikes, student and teacher politics and all kind of disturbances. If you are from a good school then for you most teachers will not be of the level you are used to, so better be ready to self study in a library and please don’t waste time attending classes, they are a joke anyway.

On a lighter side, few teachers are good, and few of the colleges do provide a good studying environment (like St Stephen, Shri Ram, LSR.… you probably know which ones)

I see many people saying that DU is the best. I think for them it was all about getting freedom, enjoying college time, going to parties, wearing nice clothes and having fun. Or maybe they say it’s good because to say it’s bad is to accept the fact that they didn’t get into someplace good. Or maybe they are just talking about their time their and not about the education. In my experience DU is far from being the best, I would even hesitate to call it good.
