How far is the coding culture in IIT Patna useful to other branch students (if they are interested in it)?

  • 0

I currently am a third year student at IIT Patna and am the coordinator of Competitive coding department in our college’s coding club, so I find myself suitable enough to answer this.

I would like to tell you that all the classes that we hold for competitive coding and for that matter even for every other field like web development, open source, cyber security etc. are all open to all (there are no branch or even year restrictions). You can see people of various years attending same sessions as per their interests.

And the biggest thing to support the fact that people of other branches too can get involved in coding if they are interested is, if you see the star competitive coding team of our college Team ButterRoti , that is 2 times ACM ICPC World Finalist (for those of you who don’t know how big of an achievement it is, only 8 teams from India qualify and only around 120 teams from all over the World), one of it’s member Prateek Karnal bhaiya is currently the highest rated coder in our college and a student of Electrical Engineering Department, hence proving that branch doesn’t really matter if you are truly interested in something.

So, surely if you are interested and by whatsoever reason couldn’t make it to CS departure, you still can become a great coder and bag the top jobs people dream for.
