Three main problems:
1. The expensive fees
All the above mentioned comes at a (huge) price. That is then compared to IITs/NITs/BITS which give are slight better in all aspects but with lesser fees. People feel Manipal is here just to loot. Their mind doesn’t allow to think anything beyond that. Also the infrastructure though is excellent, may not stand tall when compared to BITS and some IITs.
2. Zero promotions/advertisements
Almost everyday everywhere we see universities like Amity and Lovely Professional in newspapers and TV. So when you hear of these names during your admissions you at least seriously consider it. When it comes to Manipal, particularly in the northern part just don’t get why there are so much talks about this university!
3. False rumors
If you happen to research a bit on Manipal even just on Quora there are chances you have heard of DeeTee and more importantly the drug cases prominent here. Add to that the high fees and the image of a Manipal student is made- a rich, spoilt brat who couldn’t get any other college hence stuck here.
But thanks to the college rankings, the experts out there see MIT as a tier-1 college. The goal of Manipal is simple- for slightly above average people like me who couldn’t get into the biggest colleges and not ready to settle for college of lesser standard, give the standard that my mind deserves (albeit for a price).
