Right. So initially I was not going to answer this question. But when I saw Harsh Athavale ‘s answer, I did leave a comment on his answer asking him to validate his points about the placements as being a 2019 pass out from MUJ, I never came across any companies offering 16 lacs in my batch(‘18–19).Maybe there were a couple of companies that we were not told about during our placements but Harsh somehow came to know about them. LOL
Anyway, since my original COMMENT was deleted by him, I decided to answer this question so that no one gets ill informed by his answer.
Firstly, there was no 27LPA package in ‘17–18. It was an internship opportunity being provided by Amazon and that too it was a POOL drive. So, the college really didn’t had anything to do with it. In order to get that “27lac CTC”, you have to CONVERT the internship to FTE first which unfortunately was not the case in our ‘17–18 batch.
Secondly, no company paid 16 lacs in ‘18–19.Heck, hardly 1 company paid 10+(10.5) LPA which was the highest. Most of the companies were paying 3–4 lacs.
Thirdly, the average package of CSE was also not ~6 lacs. It was somewhere around 3.5–4.5 lacs. It might be an “ok” package for a lot of local/govt colleges but in a college like MUJ where you will be spending ~20–25 lacs throughout your 4 years, I would say that it is quite less.
Anyway, most of us searched for jobs off campus for a better pay and kept on campus companies as back ups and quite a lot of students dropped the companies they were placed in through college due to such low packages.
Basically, I am saying that placements do not really set MUJ apart. They are just like any other average engineering college. So, no harm done there. However, considering the money you will be putting in throughout the 4 years, I don’t think its really worth it placement wise.
Apart from that, the hostels are amazing and you will probably have a good time during your stay there.
