They certainly helps in proving the fact that you haven’t been sitting idle and you were engaged in honing your skills and learning new things but that does not mean that they give you an edge.
The only thing that gives you an edge is — “How good you are at what you do”. We all know how much easy it is nowadays to get online certifications. You can get any amount of certifications in any technology in a year but what’s necessary is getting a certification in a technology that you like working on and what matters more than a certificate is how much adroit you are on that particular technology.
A certificate can only help you in establishing a mere fact that you know the technology that’s it.
Hardly any recruiter will pay much attention to your certificates. They don’t have much say and they don’t prove your adroitness; you do that for yourself.
