There are no packages in crores, not really. Companies cleverly add stock options and other allowances which are vested over years in the CTC, which is technically wrong, as it’s not vested in the first year. Also, most of the bonuses that are provided in the first year will not be provided in subsequent years, and the CTC actually reduces after the first year. Sometimes even the joining bonus has clauses that it might need to be returned if the candidate leaves within the stipulated period.
That said, M. Tech. students are at no disadvantage when it comes to these high-paying jobs, and in fact, may get an advantage. It all comes down to the candidate’s expertise.
