Congratulations for securing admission in UPES.
Now, coming to your question. The answer depends on a lot of factors such as your stream, your performance through these 4 years and your peer group. Most of the students coming to UPES or for that matter of fact to any engineering college are under the impression that if they work hard, they would secure a good Placement with a decent package.
Wake up!!
Most of the jobs are for the IT professionals (3–4LPA) and if you really want a core job then you gotta be amongst the top students. Infact even in the computer science branches, you need to be amongst the top students to secure a package of somewhere around 6–7 LPA or higher unless you are an IITian. This is the sad reality that people judge a person’s calliber based on his grades. But that’s how it is. However, if you have an economically stable family background, then you can go for higher studies even after spending a hefty 20 Lacs on your B.tech.
The bottom line is, you won’t regret being in UPES either if you are rich or if you are really hard working. No place for people who are neither of the two.
