BITS Pilani is not government funded. It is a self sustained private institute which is not-for-profit. A year here from this semester onward would cost you around 4.5 lakhs. That does seem a lot in first glance. And you also have to consider around 10–15% fee hike every year. But, if you compare it to other respected institutes like IITs that does seem much but what you dont consider is that government pays for around 80% of the expenditure in IITs(for general category). So, if total fees was compared for both institutes BITS leads by a very big margin. And you don’t have to worry about it, as a BITSian I can assure you that you your degree would pay for itself in 4 years of time. Also, the facilities you get here are very good.
