It seems that you have seen the news published in newspapers. IIITians have a mixed feeling about the news as it just portrays IIIT as a high placement factory, which is not the case. IIIT is a multi-dimensional institute. In the rat-race of higher packages, all the other dimensions are always ignored. Mr Ashwani answered all the factors responsible for rankings. It is pretty evident that placement and package is just a sub-heading in the list.

- NIRF gives so much priority to the SIZE of things such as the number of students, budgets, number of research scholars etc etc.. IIIT-H never focused on the quantity factors but always focused on quality. It excels in all the possible dimensions like Research with both MS and PhD programs, social services, Project Fundings, Industry-Academia relations, academic environment, campus open culture/freedom to students, Industry oriented academics and research, enriching young engineers with things like TAships to UGs, Online Processing, Faculty and TAs’ review systems and many more.
