There are number of doctors who after passing MD do appear for DNB final exam in the same subject and get the DNB degree. But the reverse is not applicable because universities do not allow DNB pass out candidates to take MD final exam. So your question is partially true.
The actual answer to the question would be the presumed satisfaction of the candidate as they think DNB an additional feather to their qualification.
