Let me give you an advice. If possible, don’t go to UPES,Dehradun. Believe me; I myself went to study at UPES, majoring in Aerospace Engineering. I dropped out in my second year and joined SRM, Kattankulathur. UPES is overrated and the professors are not good at all. It’s among the most expensive engineering university in India but the ROI is very low. The amount of investment you make to study at UPES, it will take you minimum 6-7 years to make any profit out of it. There is also an option to upgrade your branch after your first year at UPES. It depends largely upon the seat availability. You will need above 9 CGPA minimum to even stand a chance which is immensely difficult. Think about it this way. You are taking the seat of a student after first year if you successfully upgrade your branch. But why will the student leave his seat suddenly after studying throughout the first year? This is very rare. And even if this happens, the student leaves his seat because he is frustrated with life at UPES even though he got a better rank than you.
So, if possible, try avoiding UPES. Its shit rich and only for the extremely rich people. You will get mocked every moment if you are a nerd and suck at romance. Most of the UPESites end up as drug, narcotics and alcohol addicts because they have their parents’ business to back them up!!
