There can never be an external opinion of which branch is better. Branch selection is a pretty big deal. Never take a branch just because the majority prefers it.
The first step to decide would be your subjects of interest. The physics subject in 11th and 12th covered almost all the important type of topics. The first set was purely mechanical based. Then there is heat related topics, which again are core Mechanical topics. Only the electrical part can give you an idea of how EEE will be.
Now, you would want to check the placements. EEE has better placements? Why don’t we remove the people being placed in IT sector. Now the core placements can’t be more than Mechanical. So if you really want a core industry job, you should not fear the placements stats. Higher education is very much recommended.
If you end up deciding on not taking a core job, you would obviously have to be good at coding. IT industry prefer engineers from EEE branch over Mechanical.
