I’ve done three internships, all in the communication field out of which only one was actually useful.
1. Indian Army Signals Division, Ambala – I got to witness first hand the kind of communications equipment the Army uses and was explained the details of each and every one. It reaffirms one’s faith that the Indian Armed Forces are a force to be reckoned with and that the Army has quite a lot of sophisticated and modern equipment. It was an amazing experience. (Also got to do some shooting at the firing range).
2. Airtel and Vodafone – Both of these internships were for a namesake basis only, though that was not my intention when i applied for them. In my experience, both these companies had very little interest in training interns and i was mostly sitting around twiddling my thumbs. That is not to say there aren’t learning opportunities here. These people can teach us a lot, but none of them have the time or the inclination.
