I graduated in Electrical Engg from IITR this year only. I can’t compare quality of life in IITR to that of BITS Pilani or say which institute/specialization would fetch you better package/placement. Neither I would suggest you anything. Its always better to follow your intuitions.
But I want to share this with you. I, intentionally, kept my BITSAT exam date after JEE result date. And when I got my AIR close to 1500, I didn’t even give BITSAT paper. 🙂
Regarding competition among students, be very sure that you will meet at least 3000 students better or comparable to you in any of the IITs.
P.S- I graduated in EE, but I am better in Electronics and Computer Architecture/OS. This is because IITR not only gives you good academics but also chance to learn anything you want to. There are groups like PAG,SDSLabs, Electronics and Robotics society, ASME, FSAE and many more where you get chance to learn many things from some of the real BADASS seniors.

When considering placements, packages, quality of life, and course difficulty, which would be better- electrical in IIT, Roorkee, or computer science at BITS, Pilani?
