I recently appeared in the placement for m.tech. in IEC(VLSI) at IIT Delhi.
I had qualified written test of two out of three biggest semiconductor companies in the world. So I was given time for interview in both companies on first day first slot.
I was little nervous about the interview. When I appeared in first interview, interviewer was asking about why I left my previous job and why do I want to join his company. I have answered both easily. Then he started asking me technical stuff. Some of the technical questions were new to me so I told him that I have never seen these before. Some of the questions I answered which were also new to me but they were relatable.
After the first interview I was quite confident that I will be called for second round. But I could not make it to the second round. At that time I was feeling very bad about me. Then I saw some students were passed to the second round whose interview was very bad in the first round. It was so because there were a number of interview panels and everyone was giving feedback differently. Some of well deserved candidates could not make it to the second round due to different panels. At last I came to know that only 1 student got placed from that interviewer who was taking my interview. At that time I realised that luck is a big factor at the time of interview.
