My parents are also very conservative, believe me. Before joining this university, every relative and every friend were against the decision of mine to join VIT university. But one past alumni of VIT university told my parents firmly to support the decision, because it depends entirely on me. Your parents should trust you. If you badly want to join, VIT university make sure your conservative parents trust you and be equally smart. If you want to be good, and you are firm on what you want to do, no one and ultimately none can distract you. There are rules in VIT. Rules that are strictly followed and abided. If you want to break that, again it is you. No one is responsible. VIT does its best to tackle the receding maturity level of teens by imposing rules that might be unfair to many. But it depends entirely on you. Not only for VIT university, it is for any college you join. The choice is yours. Choose wisely. If you can make it in VIT just as you picture it, you can make it anywhere.
