Technically
CSE was meant to take on the software aspect of the computers like programming and stuffs.
While IT was a branch to deal with the hardware aspects of the computer like motherboards and diagnosing the PC.
But in India you won’t find much distinction. Although there is a slight difference in their curriculum but what happens here is people who don’t get CSE opt for IT.
Later after their engineering is done they sit together for a common company, contesting for a common post and landing up with the same job as a CSE student.
