The head of the legal department or function usually has the title “General Counsel”, “Chief Legal Officer”, “Head of Legal”, or something similar depending on what the rest of the executive team’s titles are and who s/he reports to. While there is quite a bit of variance, General Counsel is still the most common title based on surveys done by the Association of Corporate Counsel over the past few years.
