The placement details that UPES guys will show you on the registration day is complete antithesis of reality of placements at UPES.
They will show you prodigious digits like an average package of 7 Lacs/year and highest package of around 17–18 Lacs/year. But the reality is that for any branch at UPES, the average package is around 4 Lacs and maximum package at about 8–9 Lacs.
Now, let me define you MAXIMUM Package in case of placements at UPES:
Consider their most “PROMINENT BRANCH” i.e., UPSTREAM.
They will tell you that average package is around 7–8 Lacs and Highest Package of 34 Lacs. But the reality is that only 50% students (when there were 70 seats in upstream. Now I think it is more than 100) gets placement in core companies and that too with an average package of around 4 lacs and one or two or at max 3 students get placement in SCHLUMBERGER and hence chalk up a whooping package of 16–20 Lacs.
You see how diificult it is to secure placement in SCHLUMBERGER, it totally depend upon how lucky you are on the day of placement.
See, I am not saying that UPES is a bad college, the placement % is good and the placement cell works very hard to make sure that you get placement from the college itself.
