Information Science Engineering, as the name suggests “information science” deals more with what information you possess and how you will manage that information in order to get some fruitful output or answer. Information Science deals with the collection, categorization, strategizing, storage and distribution of information.
It is an inter-disciplinary field focused on cognitive science, commerce, communication and management. An IS engineer needs to be aware of what information technology can contribute to an organization and how to bring that solution to fruition. The engineer should possess the ability to apply the knowledge of information systems and technology to help organizations compete more successfully in the marketplace or to streamline current operations.
The study of Information Science also focuses on investigation of properties and behavior of information. The information Science engineers are expected to study the application and usage of knowledge in organizations, along with the interaction between people, organizations and any existing information systems and aim to create, replace, improve or understand the information systems.
