Well this depends on different companies that visit your college. First of all, you should be clear about this thing that, GPA criteria are just for screening. If you are above the required criterion you are just eligible for tests and interviews that doesnt mean that you will surely land into a job.
- Around 2–3% of the companies that visit the campus have a criterion of 8.5 and above.
- Most of the good paying companies have a criteria of either 6.5,7 or 7.5.
- A very few and less paying companies keep no GPA criteria.
So, to sit for all the companies you can keep your GPA above 8.5 but not compromising other activities in college that would help in your personality development. Having a GPA around 8 is more than enough.
As I already told this is just the screening criteria. Further, they try to find a good employee for their company which depends on your overall personality. So rather than working only on your GPA, try and work on your interests, know yourself, work on different projects. All this will help you build your resume, you will gain experience and you will have a lot to give to the company hence being an asset for them.
