What food options do students have at the SRM main campus other than the mess? And do they even really provide North Indian food?

Other options apart from mess are as follows:

1. Food court ( java ) : there are approximately 10 stalls consisting of different menus.
2. Near girls hostel which is adjacent to hotel management complex, you got one restaurant.
3. Full potheri area consists of many eating outlets for both veg and nonveg. To name a few RFM, Tansen, French Loaf, Delhi-6, Blueberry, Kolkata house.
4. Inside UB you have orange tree cafe for snacks.
5. And then you have night canteen besides hostel which runs 24*7

Note: the girls inside the campus ( hostelites) have a deadline of 7.30pm and boys have 9.30pm( hostelites) as deadline.

P.S. it totally depends upon individuals how they deal with hostel receptionists
