Hello random quora user. Let me introduce you to a computer engineer, er, student.
So basically, if you look at any of my profiles, you might notice that I’m an electrical engineer. This is because CpE is a relatively new field that not many people know much about. It’s a cross between CS and EE, but more EE. So much in fact, that rather than explain it, I typically just say I’m an EE.
So what actually is the difference? Not very much. At Clemson, assuming that an EE takes a second level of programming as one of his electives, there are a total of 4 different classes. One of them being a math class.
EE’s take power, electronagnetics, and a second level of electronics (CpE’s take the first). CpE’s take algorithms, introduction to operating systems, and software engineering.
Both majors take microcontroller interfacing, control systems, electronics, digital signal processing, and of course your standards in circuit analysis.
