What are the most interesting placement stories at SASTRA?

  • 0

There were 3 interesting events that happened on the day of my placements.

It was FIFA World Cup finals on the day (a very early part of it) of my placements. I stayed up till 4 am, screaming and rejoicing Germany’s feat! I had to sleep and wake up at 7 for my placements that very same day. I should thank the guy who invented alarms and the guy who created an app that rings the alarm every 5 minutes. It really saved my life that morning.

During the HR interview, I was asked about my area of interest. My area of interest and the business model of the company were like pickles and ice cream. They never go well together. I had to sit there and explain how my pickle may add taste to the ice cream, even though in my mind I knew it made no sense.

In the interview, when the candidates were rejected, they were called out of the waiting room and given a memento. There were 4 of us in the waiting room, and 2 or 3 were in the interview halls. We 4 were called out and were given the memento. I looked at others, and I could see the same expression on their faces. While I was contemplating on how to act normal and leave the place, they gave us another memento and told us we were through to the next round an that those were gifts of appreciation for our performance. All I could do was, ‘PHEW!’.
