I have stayed in the hostel for past 9 semesters and hence consider myself in a good position to answer your question.
Firstly, Meera Bhawan, is a huge hostel (since it is the only one for girls) and hence you cannot generalize it. Meera Bhawan has 10 blocks (buildings) out of which only one is architecturally similar to other boys’ bhawans constructed during the 60’s, rest of them are not that old.
Size of the rooms differs, it depends on the block you are allotted. The rooms might be small( for some blocks) but they are definitely well maintained. They have plenty of ventilation and sunlight. (Unlike the boys’ bhawans we have balcony attached to every room)
The washrooms are clean and well maintained. Cleaning of washrooms and common areas is done on a daily basis. (Chances are your own room might be dirtier than common areas, at times). There is no water seepage or anything of that sort.
Plus we have electric water heaters in addition to the solar one, which means hot water at any hour of the day, especially during winters.
