- Check the last year opening and closing ranks of last year at Josaa’s official site. From here you will get an idea, that which seat are you going to get.
- Stay away from career counsellors. They will divert your mind and will provoke you to take admission in private collages using your COMED-K or WBJEE rank.
- Understand that how does Josaa’s allot the seats. Suppose you have filled 50 choices and you haves locked them. Now Josaa checks your first choice and if you are getting that seat they will allot you otherwise they will check your next preference or choice. In this manner they check your all the choices one by one and if you are getting a seat (say 28th) they allot you that seat in 1st round and give you three options viz. Float, Freeze and Slide. If you want to take the allotted seat(28th) you will Freeze, if you want better seat you will Float, and if you want a better seat in the same college you will slide. Now if you have chosen Float in that scenario Josaa will again check you choices from 1st to 28th(28th seat is still yours.) And if you are getting a better seat in next round (say 17th) they will allot you that seat and in this way the counseling proceeds to the 7th round.
- Never hesitate to fill your most ambitious seat at 1st position doesn’t matter you are getting it according to last year opening closing rank or not. Like everyone prefers NIT Trichy CSE, so it doesn’t matter what is your rank fill it at first. Josaa will ignore that choice if you are not able to get it.
- Always fill the choice in the order of you preference. Never fill an less preferred choice above and more preferred choice below.
- Never fill that seat at first position which you can easily get in first round. Like suppose you are easily getting NIT SIKKIM CSE, So don’t fill it at first position, otherwise you will get that seat in first round and that will freeze automatically (because 1st choice can’t be upgraded).
